THE MILL CREEK HUNT STABLES AND KENNELS

Mill Creek Hunt was fortunate to have among its membership the famous architect David Adler and his wife Katherine.  As a result, since 1930, Mill Creek has had a stables, main house and kennels that were designed and constructed by David Adler. At the time, David Adler was a local architect of distinction, known for his European inspired “country houses” commissioned by Chicago’s elite families. Adler’s skill in interpreting classical design and symmetry is evident in the design of the hunt club buildings.  The adjacent and now very heavily trafficked road is known as Hunt Club Road.

Just through the courtyard, a walk of about a quarter mile down a winding drive brings you to the hounds.  The Adler designed kennels are compatible with the other buildings with a cedar shake roof and rounded cupolas.  Beautifully symmetrical, the kennels center cupola boasts a running hound  weather vane at the top.
